The Prince of Peace

Writer's picture: Mary EstherMary Esther

In John 16, Jesus tells His disciples not to be troubled in heart because soon they will receive His Spirit, the Spirit of Peace, if they continue in His word. The disciples of Christ do not heed His command not to be troubled and is scared and worried until after they see Christ's resurrection. Once they see their Lord resurrected, they find the strength they need to go to the Upper Room and remain in His word. When the disciples remain in His word, they bear the fruit of righteousness and finally receive the Spirit of Righteousness, or the Spirit of Christ who is our Prince of Peace. In other words, they give birth to the spiritual Christ and they find peace everlasting.

In this Christmas season, when so many things can take away our peace, let's heed the command of Christ and remain in His word until we bear the fruit of righteousness and also give birth to the spiritual Christ. Let's invite the Prince of Peace in our hearts to remain in our hearts for eternity.
